MATTIE ROGERS
USA National Champion Olympic Weightlifter Mattie Rogers is an incredibly versatile athlete who has combined natural ability with tremendous work-ethic to achieve success in an athletic career that continues to evolve. She embodies that idea that athletes can and should follow their interests and not feel confined to a single sport or training style. She is a fierce competitor, a brilliant athlete, and an outstanding role model for young girls finding their way in sport.
Mattie is a rising star in the world of weightlifting, although her journey didn't start on the lifting platform. Mattie got her start as an athlete at a very young age taking gymnastics, and eventually discovering the highly competitive sport of cheerleading. Mattie is a natural competitor and she achieved great success and notoriety as a cheerleader before her athletic development led her into the growing sport of CrossFit. This opened a new world to Mattie, in which she discovered that applying her intense work ethic and rigorous training ability resulted in her victory at the first CrossFit Games Teen feature at the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games. Always evolving as an athlete, Mattie fell in love with weightlifting and began competing shortly after the Games.
As a relatively new athlete to the sport, she has already achieved incredible success, including an appearance on the Junior USA National Team, and a national title in 2015. At the 2015 IWF Junior Pan American Championships, Mattie finished with the top snatch lift (92kg) in her category, earning her a gold medal and establishing an American junior record. For the clean & jerk, she lifted 110kgs, the third best mark in the lift, which totaled a PR (202kg) and landed her on the podium in 3rd place. She hopes to earn a spot on the USA Olympic Team for the 2016 Games in Rio.
